Fraud Leader New Zealand Job (Auckland, New Zealand)

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:
• Development and implementation of departmental vision for fraud strategies and targets for NZ Fraud staff in conjunction with National Fraud Manager, Australia and New Zealand
• Working with the Australian Fraud team to design and then execute best in industry fraud prevention strategies specific for the NZ business
• Management of different fraud prevention systems to execute best-in-industry fraud detection and feedback into lending process
• Management of the NZ fraud team with a view to achieving optimum results and throughput
• Provide sound advice to GE Capital NZ to minimise fraud loss across all functions. Responsibility to sign off all Business Requirements and functional spec documents for all new processes/products and changes to current processes
• Workload and staff level management (including retention), and reporting of workload / results as agreed
• Development and implementation of succession plans for high potential staff, and management and remedial plans of under-performing staff;
• Ensuring adherence to privacy and other legal requirements

Formal Investigations experience would be advantageous.

Experience
Extensive experience in Financial institution strategic management role

Demonstrated success leading teams

Demonstrated success managing multiple portfolios

Experience with automated account management systems

Technical Knowledge

Experience in fraud detection and management systems; Hunter, Falcon, Footprint, Intellinx etc

MAJOR CHALLENGES:
• Maintaining fraud losses at an acceptable level from the businesses perspective
• Ensuring that GE Capital NZ has best-in-practice fraud prevention systems in place and that all tools are working at optimal level
• Integration and training of Fraud Prevention strategies into the NZ Underwriting process
• Identifying systems weaknesses in GE NZ Application Systems. Assist in building the business case for change and implementing operational changes
• Assisting in review of Business and Functional Specifications for New Product launches.
• Hiring and maintaining high calibre staff
DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY
• Day to day management of the NZ Fraud shop.
• Designated write off authority limits as designated by NZ Risk Policy 5.0
• Cost Centre Budget $ 500m-$ 1MM NZD

Management of the fraud functions and interactions across all GE Capital NZ businesses.
Fraud Losses in NZ currently sit in excess of $ 500m NZD, or 3 and 23 bps FRAUD LOSS TO SALES.
Fraud Save typically runs at 5 times losses.
Fraud Headcount is current 4.0, incl the manager
