Position Summary:

Troubleshoot and repair heavy, construction, and small equipment and generators.

Essential Functions:

1. Perform Caterpillar and allied product P.M. Services.

2. Perform minor and major repairs to Caterpillar and allied products in the shop and field locations.

3. Perform HPC-Guam fleet vehicles (gas and diesel) P.M. services

4. Perform minor and major repairs to fleet vehicles.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

1. On the job training in any repair situation.

2. Completion of Diesel Program, other vocational classes in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical or hands on experience related to heavy equipment repairs.

3. Related experience in the military.

4. Valid Class B Guam driver?s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

5. Must furnish basic set of mechanic?s hand tools.

Testing Requirements:

Applicants may be required to pass a written and/or oral examination before being considered for employment in this position.

Physical Demands:

1. Walking and moving about on foot often through uneven terrain.

2. Handling: Seizes, helps, or works with hands. Operates equipment, hand and power tools.

3. Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts and tools.

4. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.

5. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.

6. Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.

7. Climbing: In and out of equipment

8. Vision: Read work tickets and parts and service books and operates heavy equipment.

9. Talking: Communications by radio, phone, and in person.

10. Hearing: Hears well enough to discern mechanical problems for safety in and around shop and construction sites, hear back up warning alarms, and to receive communication by radio, phone, and in person.

11. Sitting: Sits in equipment and in vehicles.

12. Lying: Lies in prone position under vehicles and equipment.

Physical Strength:

Lifting: Up to 60lbs. daily; frequent exertion.

Environmental:

1. Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.

2. Temp/Weather: Works in an office environment outside with variations of temperature and weather.

3. Exposure: Foul odors, fumes and harsh substances.
